Multivariate Statistics

5 ECTS / Semestral / Portuguese
  1. Familiarize students with the purpose of statistics, in a broad sense is the collection, compilation, analysis and interpretation of data.
  2. Knowing the importance of sampling theory concepts in view of its operationalization through statistical inference.
  3. Learn to use statistical inference, in order to characterize a population starting from a random sample.
  4. Becoming aware that the methods of statistical inference are characterized by a given uncertainty (which can be quantified) associated with the determination of a statistic.
  5. Know and use the techniques of statistical decision. Formulate hypotheses and evaluate them through hypothesis testing.
  6. Know some basic multivariate statistical methods to management practices at the level of segmentation of markets / customers and data reduction.
  7. Using statistical methods in management to support decision making.
