The Institute of Management and Health Organizations (IGOS), created in 2019, is a Basic Unit of the Portuguese Catholic University (UCP) resulting from the change in the name of the former Department of Economics, Management and Social Sciences (DEGCS), created in 2006, as part of a restructuring of the UCP Regional Center of Viseu, which, in turn, succeeded the University Institute for Social Development and Promotion (IUDPS), created in 1986.

IGOS is located in Viseu, in a city elected by the Consumer Defense Association (DECO) three times in succession as the best city in the country to live in; and is aimed at teaching and scientific research in the areas of Management and Social Sciences, as well as specialization in Health Organizations, intending to be a driving force in the country and region in which it operates.

IGOS' Mission is: To prepare excellent professionals with skills to integrate or create organizations (business, public or third sector) and promote research and the consequent scientific development, also developing collaborations with other Units of the Catholic University.

The Institute offers a degree in Management, a Masters in Applied Management and also several Post-Graduations and Advanced Training in the areas of Management and Social Sciences, some of which are directed towards the area of Management of Health Units.
