Information Systems for Management

7 ECTS / Semestral / Portuguese

This curricular unit aims to provide an overview of how information systems can be fruitfully used to support management activities in organizations. It also seeks to sensitize students to the need to approach the management of information systems from a holistic perspective between technologies, people and the organization. Finally, it aims to provide students with basic knowledge about application software for personal and organizational purposes. In particular, students must be able to:

  1. Understand the importance of information systems in contemporary management;
  2. Identify and describe the various types of information systems that can contribute to improve the organizational effectiveness and efficiency;
  3. Use software applications to assist decision making;
  4. Understand the different approaches to planning, development and implementation of information systems.
